I have used it on ground box splices, it takes a couple of applications to build up a thick enough layer. I know of a commercial sign that had a splice in the pavement that I found and used it, made crimp connection, heat shrinked and then dipped in liquid tape, it has been working fine for about 8 years now....

I see it used to make antenna connections weather resistant but have found that 'Strech and Seal' works just as well and is easier to remove. S&S also has the advantage of not spilling on your tools and turning a good day into a PITA.

I am the type of person that, when dealing with anything fluid, I will get more on me and my tools than on the intended target. As such, I refrain from painting, drywalling and caulking.

Did you know that there is an apprenticeship for caulkers?

nope, ya don't want to take 'em apart, although a split bolt with tape and mastic is worse. Just for stuff you really dont expect(or want) to go back into.
That is the truth!!!
I've had to do that a few times and it's like "Not Again".
Not to mention that it is such a pain to try and use the same split bolts again.
