I turned down some non listed sealtite a few weeks ago. It was black and had no wrighting whatsoever. Nothing on the fittings either. Very soft stuff and looked like dryer vent hose only smaller. I have no Idea where that stuf is made.
I have some of that very stuff at the shop, and it's listed as LTFNMC-type B. Hubbell, I believe. The writing is on the coil tag and not on the flex.

Ultraflex Liquidtight is a UR recognized component flexible non-metallic mechanical protection tubing. This extra flexible tubing is ideal for interconnection of separate component assemblies or consoles of electrical apparatus, such as x-ray equipment. Strong PVC tubing with integral reinforcing member within the conduit wall. May also be used as a non-UL liquidtight conduit.

It bothers me that the LFMC is not listed.

But, this bother me more.

... Everything that they have installed in the last several years have been Non UL and this seems suspect to me.

Tallenf, please PM me. Maybe I can take a look.

Chris,

Do the EI's in your area accept the use of it???

Those that catch it don't accept it, but its use is so pervasive in my area that there is alot of unlisted sealtight flex being installed. I try to explain to the electricians and inspectors that take my CEU classes that the use of unlisted sealtight flex is a violation, but a bunch of the contractors won't change to using the listed stuff until it is uniformly enforced. (money issues :))

Then I have a question and not to be argumentative, but isn't the NEC contradicting itself? 90.4 allows AHJ to approve materials, but when you get to the 300's it says materials and fittings shall be listed for (insert conduit type here). I am all for not allowing non-listed materials on a site, but just want clarifacation as to the contradiction.

Ken,
In my opinion the "approval" by the AHJ would for items that the code does not require to be "listed". I don't see a contradiction.
