load centers

I am looking for an old topic about which panel is used most often by contractors. They have a GE panel 200A 30/40 at Lowes that comes with the main, 12 20A, 1 30A, and 1 50A for $130. Why would anyone wiring spec houses at a per foot rate spend the money on a Cutler-Hammer or other higher priced panel?

Re: load centers

Check for the AIC rating on the circuit breakers and the fault current rating of the panelboard. The reason is that they may not have a rating which would give them only 5 kA. I think the panelboard would be rated for 10 kA. :D

Re: load centers

The local supply house I usually use was having a special on 40-slot Cutler 200A BR panels (included main and a bunch of breakers). I didn't need any at the time, but as I recall the price was around $110.

Also, depending on the market you intended to sell said spec house into, super cheap might not be the right answer.

Re: load centers

the QO is the cadillac, no arguement

but caddy's are bid breakers

i'd bet this to probably be the marketing behind homeboy breakers
