Load On Strut

A thumbnail estimate:

Snow weighs 20 lbs per cubic feet. NJ can get 3 feet of snow, maybe more, kinda guessing. That would be 60 lb per square foot of roof. 1,000 lbs / 60 lb = 16.6 Call it 16 so that we can say the load per roof caddy equals a 3 foot snow load on a 4' x 4' area. With the spacing at 7', it may be ok, but like others are saying, it need to be professionally engineered.

I've seen some dura-blocks that erode in weather in like 5 years. I have switched over to my own method of wood blocks coated in elastomeric roofing compound. Titanium dioxide elastomeric. Last forever.
