Hey all, we are beginning a rough in for an "IV Bar" I don't know if anyone is familiar with this type of business but it's basically a place where anyone can go in and, after a preliminary meeting with a nurse or possibly even a nursing practicioner, they can go into a treatment room and be administered an Intravenous treatment consisting of basically vitamins and the like.

My question is does a space like this fall under the rules of article 517 and, if so, what would it be classified under?

In 517.2, under Invasive Procedure, it notes that intravenous treatments are not included. However, I can see how this would fall under a category 2 or 3 of a patient care space.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

How is this different than the IV they use for blood donations, which are done in just about every room imaginable?

I believe it is up to building code officials to make 517 classifications. It is then up to electricians to install per the applicable code section.
