i know there is height restriction of 6ft. 7 inches, but is there a "minimal" height restriction for mounting an equipment disconnect...for instance, a hot tub, at a single family dwelling, outdoors.....is there a minimum height that it has to be mounted...i can't find anything on it....thanks for your assistance,

As odd as it seems there is no minimum height unless it is a disconnecting means for a mobile home.

There is no "minimal" height restriction that applies generally. Although to my knowledge(and it can be limited at times;)), the only section that may apply to what your looking for is 550.32(F).

There may be others.....but I don't think there is....

No minimum required with the exception of mobile homes in 550.32(F) must be 2 ft. above grade.

You guys type fast.....I'm still on the one finger method;)

I am aware of another section that is applicable to this discussion.....

I know its a stretch but it still is a "minimal" requirement.....

555.9 implies ....a switch/disconnect can not be installed lower than 12'' above the deck....so minimum height to bottom is 12''

It's good to see you are doing your homework! Never accept everything you hear on the job site! I have to say I was selfish when it came to the height requirement. I let J-men walk around believing 6ft 6inches was the norm--while later discovering that our Administrator believed the same thing. I finally broke from my selfish ways, and told the Admin to look it up, and he was astonished when he found-out I was right. I have to admit--after more than one J-man told me the minimum height was 32"-- I accepted the rule for at least two months..LOL!!!
