Location of utility transformer near Class i Div 2 Bldg

Being under the 2003 IBC, I was asked how close our utility transformer can be to the edge of Class I, Div 2 chemical storage building. I don't see anything listed in the NEC in regards to transformer proximity and in the IBC, I only see the 50' minimum distance to a building. Has anyone run into this before?

The electrical area classification is not a restriction on the transformer itself in Division 2 locations. See [2005]501.100(B). This does not necessarily hold for any auxiliary equipment or instrumentation; nor does it cover wiring methods to incorporate the transformer into the system.
