Looking for way to lockout recessed twist lock plug

Anybody ever seen this done?
I want to be able to lockout a recessed 480VAC inlet plug. There must be a way to do it, I've just never seen it.

Do you have to lock the inlet out at the inlet? Would locking out the breaker that it feeds provide the same level of protection you are trying to achieve?

I would prefer to keep all power outside the enclosure. The breaker lockout is an option I'm considering.
I mainly want to keep anyone from opening the door just to lock out the machine. I might just use a hardwired pigtail then lockout the cord end, but we like using the flush plugs.
 
Is the inlet connected directly to a circuit breaker without any type of mechanical interlock?
 
If there is only one cord on premises that can possibly connect to it, I myself would have no problem with one of those cord connector lockout devices on it, otherwise some sort of cover with locking capabilities is about only other option IMO.
 
That's a definite option. Expensive but doable
It was all but free in my case. I had them made as part of the enclosure when it was fabricated. Just a couple pieces of sheet metal, hinges, and some welding. It probably cost more for me to draw it up the first time then it did for the fab shop to make them. Once it was designed it is just a copy and paste thing.

If you are looking for something more off the shelf, there are several companies that make hinged doors that can be added to a surface over top of instruments.

 
I like the one you designed. If its a one off and you just want to buy something and dont mind if its a bit expensive, Hubbell has p/n WP2 which is a cover for the flanged inlets, and they have p/n HBLWC which is a locking hasp thing for the weatherproof covers such as WP2.

Out here ATT has all these cabinets on the streets containing electronics and they have a generator input that looks like a locking inlet and its integral cover has a place for a padlock. I need to figure out what those are.
 
Sorry for any confusion, I didn't explain the use. The recessed plug is only a power inlet, with a breaker down stream. There is no way for the plug to be energized unless it is plugged into a cord. Locking it out would only be during maintenance so it can't be accidentally plugged in.

We don't do many ac boxes but I will probably just make the lockable cover a inhouse part number and use it based on customer preference.
Thanks for the input everyone! Maybe I can sell the covers, but I'm probably the only one that would want them haha
 
Have you looked into Levitons line of industrial locking inlet covers?
