LV undercab lites

I am installing puk lights under kitchen cabinets. I am using NM cable in the walls from the transformer to the lights, using butt connectors to connect the lights. Do the splices have to be inclosed, either in the cabinet or under?

You are permitted to install the 12 volt puk lighting conductor splices without a box. I do not believe the NM cable can be spliced with butt connectors, as the butt connectors are listed for stranded conductors.

Why? why? No more puck lights! I do not beleive that the splices have to be enclosed.

I would use 14-2 makes job a little easier.Wire nuts would look ugly.

14/2 on the load side of the transformer is most likely too small.

My method has been single runs to each puck
12 volts x 15 amps = 180 watts

What are you guys using to splice 12NM to LV lights? Butt connectors are OK for solid wire, but can't find 12 to 18ga.
