They are definitely battleships.

finally. someone who actually knows the proper terminology.
are the rest of you guys **NEW**, or something?

shh. don't tell nobody, but bowers makes a box for these that is 3 1/2" deep.
you can actually get a wattsaver or gfci device into them, with wires and a
couple wire nuts behind even. the only cut in boxes i use.

My vote is in for "Madisons or Jem/Gem bx clips"- but I must say the 'Battle ships' name is pretty cool-especially for what it says about how we come to recognize these things by so many different names which all describe the same thing.
It was explained to me back on my first day as a helper that the reason you kept your mouth shut and went to the truck when the lead mechanic needed something was because you needed to figure out/learn what it was he was asking for and how to recognize it by many different possible names.
[Make no mistake, it could sometimes be just a little chop busting too,eh-until you earned your stripes so to speak?].
Now along this same line of thought-anyone know why they call the multi cable straps used with metal studs these days "Colorado Jims"?

Madison Bars.

Have seen them bunched together and used to buypass a meter! Should be called Prison Bars for that use!
