Made or Driven?

I thought I knew what driven was. After reviewing NFPA Electrical Inspection Manual "it" refers to a ground rod as "made". PP96,PP98

So what is a driven electrode?

A driven electrode is an artificial electrode that is made by driving it into the earth.
