I will do that because I really want clarification.
As I have the breaker I'm just going to change it and get my sticker.
Customer is impatient. Can't explain codes to laymen. All they know is that I FAILED.

Just my 2 cents but you gave in too easily. He didn't like it but can't cite a code violation wouldn't work for me. You could always call the DCA and see if they can give you their interpretation.

Same here. If you never expect to run into this guy again, maybe you do what he wants and move on. If you will see him (especially if expected to be frequently) time to start educating him. If he won't listen go to his supervisor.

Inspector that will listen and read things and either point out what they see or admit they were wrong are simply decent people.

Inspector that thinks they are right just because they hold a title - my thoughts on them would be deleted so I'll leave it at that.

If the Inspector says no.....does it make any difference if anyone else, or for that matter, everyone else, says its ok. Unless you want to hire a couple of PhD's in electrical engineering, and take the municipality to court, you need to make him happy.

Yep. Even with two EE's and a win, unless either you or the inspector are retiring after this, you'll probably have to deal with him again. And people never hold grudges....

That depends on who the inspector answers to. Here in NJ if he's just an electrical inspector he has at least two others above him (electrical sub-code official and building official) in the local food chain. Even after that you can still appeal to the State Division of Consumer Affairs.
