This is another good one..... I seem to always get these weird situations.
I took over a job to do the finish. The previous electrician had these Seimens modular meters... they are gangable. They are meter/disco for 7 units, a house meter/disco and a 600 amp main. HE MOUNTED ALL THE METER/ DISCOS UPSIDE DOWN! So when the switch is in the down position it was ON and when it was in the up position it was OFF. The inspector flipped when I showed him.
The reason it was done upside down was he 4" PVC feeder could only come in with abot 12" of play up or down. He came in the side of the main. So that gave hime his height for the rest of the equitment. THe equitment has buses that bolt together and having 3 and 4 meters the buse is not in the middle. So if it was mounted correctly it would have put the meter sockets in the ceiling!
All I did was install an LB and come in the top of the main disco. But that puts the center of my switch 2 1/2 feet from the ground. So before I got an inspection Iwanted to make sure I was OK.. thanks
