If it were me, and my company, I would do whatever I could to take care of their needs. I do this for my customers quite routinley, if they call that a heater in their hog barn is not working, we go and fix it. If the heater is junk, and a new heater is in line, I sell them a new one and install it. I have worked for ECs in the past that would say, well, that is not electrical, we wont do that. Then sit and complain that they dont have work.

I primarily work in the Ag side of things, and would say that 40% of the work we do is not neccisarily electric. I will run a copper gas line for the heater for a grain bin, install and repair crop dryer fans, install stirrators, whatever the customer has that needs done and I have the tools/equipment/ability to do. For farmers, we are a "one stop shop" of sorts. We stay busy this way. It gripes me to no end to here ec's say, well, we cant/wont do that, call someone else. IF YOU CAN DO IT>>>>>DO IT!!!! :)

Those are some cold temps!!!

When I worked outside and was younger, I thought I was tough, and I could work in most any weather, including snow and cold.

Today I pay for the lack of taking caring of myself while I was conquering the world.;)

Take care to work smart, even in the cold, and good luck, it looks like a long winter for some.

Sounds about like last thursday for me... local grain elevator had one of the turnheads on top of a grain leg freeze up. Warm air from the bin rises through the downpipe, and moisture collects in the turnhead due to temperture difference, and when it gets cold, ICE FORMS.....

They were convinced it was something electrical with the turnhead, so guess who got to go up.....It was 5degrees on the ground, with 35 mph winds and 50mph gusts......The leg was 160' tall.....Half way up I noticed the birds flying in the wind were being blown backwards.....Not a good sign.....

I was just about frozen when I got down 2 hours later.....two hours of scraping ice with my screwdriver.....lots of fun....
