marrette/wirenut in conduit box

Re: marrette/wirenut in conduit box

The reason I need/want to splice in an LB is as follows:

I have an SOOW cable running on the exterior (outside) of our equipment. It will enter the LB which connects to a conduit fitting on the protruding from the wall. This fitting connects to a flex conduit which is distributed through the equipment (inside). (the SOOW is flexible cable and can't be enclosed in walls or run on the interior of a building)

If I cannot do the connections inside the LB then I will have to add a jbox of some type which I would like to avoid.

Also, I agree with Al. The marr connector with the brass sleeve and set screw are not reliable, especially with solid conductors. The physical contact between metals is minimal and if there is any vibration they tend to work themselves off the wires.

Just my 2 cents.

C,

What's the in? stamp on the LB? Compare that volume with the calculation based on the conductors. . .

Because of the splice, the wire count for the non-grounding conductors doubles. What gauge conductors are we talking about?

Re: marrette/wirenut in conduit box

The SOOW cable is a 3/12 AWG or 4/12 AWG(one conductor is ground). I made an error in my previous post. we will not use a flex conduit, we will use a BX 2/12 or a 3/12.

I have not selected the LB yet, but will keep volume in mind when choosing.
