Hi team,
I recently passed the master electrician exam in Philadelphia. I'm completing all the paperwork to apply and receive my license, but the process is complex, especially regarding liability and auto insurance. Is there anyone who has recently gone through this process who can help me?
Thank you very much in advance.

Do they want something more than an ACORD certificate of insurance sent to them by your insurance company?

Had a city of Philadelphia electrical license starting back in the 1970's. Unless they changed it recently Philly only had one license and so wonder why they call it master electrician exam. Philly has a master turd tosser mean master plumber license but no master relectricsn.ljcense. I would suggest that you either join or a least attend a few of the 8 yearly IAEI meeting held in Northeast Philly one red light off the Academy Road exit of I95. They usually have 125 attendees including at least a dozen hard working & very helpful.inspectors. Not sure if the head of Philly electric unit of L & I still attends every meeting. Pre pandemic the electrical unit in basement of the Municipal building was horrible. A coworker who passed the exam on first attempt took almost a year to finally have them issue him a license. Told him that he would have to retest if he did not secure a license within a year of passing the exam. He must have visited L & I 8 different times. Only the first visit he had to get one sentence on insurance certificate changed rest of the time told him they were too busy and backed up. Often wonder if any other cities of better yet states that have state electrical license require you to attend an OSHA 10 ( 30 if a boss ) class. Hard working Philly IAEI board sent up a group of people to Harrisburg maybe 12 years ago to speed up the process of getting a Pa state eldctricsl.license they have been working in since 1964 when my father had to get a city if Philadelphia license. Before retiring the large hospital/research center that I worked for would issue the electricians an insurance certificate for several.millon dollars of liability and every two or three years Philly L & I would reject the insurance certificate and make them change a few words. Between making you have car insurance, OSHA training, certain wording on liability insurance, etc they make you jump thru too many hoops.
