I have a Washington PE license and an Administrator license. These combine to certify me as a Master of ... what? Smoke and Mirrors?

Re: masters license

I carry a Master Electrical Contractor's License in several local jurisdictions in Texas...and I'M PROUD THAT OUR PRESIDENT IS FROM TEXAS!!

Oops... back to the point.

In Texas, the licensing requirements are up to the individual jurisdictions. They usually require a letter of previous experience (in the 5 year range) from an employer, and a passing score on the SBCCI Master's exam (Southern Building Code Congress International).

Re: masters license

as you can see...different states have different rules....texas for example does not have a "state" electrical license, so we have to take tests in most of the cities we work in...a few will accept another cities license...but i have several master electrical licenses in cities in texas, florida, nevada, california and SBCCI...even if states have "state" licenses you still have to have city licenses in many cities.

Re: masters license

i also live in n.c. i am sending off my application to the state board this week.but in asheville you also need to hold a citycard(of which you do test for) and scored a 99 out of a possible 100.

By the way Sparkmantoo, the VA Board for Contractors definitions:

?Master? means a person who possesses the necessary ability, proficiency and qualifications to plan
and lay out the details for installation and supervise the work of installing, repairing and maintaining
specific types of materials and equipment utilizing a working knowledge sufficient to comply with the
pertinent provisions of the Virginia Uniform Statewide Building Code.

Also:

?Supervisor? means the licensed master or journeyman tradesman who has the responsibility to ensure
that the installation is in accordance with the applicable provisions of the Virginia Uniform Statewide
Building Code, one of whom must be on the job site at all times during installation.

Re: masters license

To see the difference in qualifications for taking license exams from state to state go here http://www.mikeholt.com/statelicense.php

There's quite a difference.

Note how some states have no licenseing, some very little time to qualify (3 to 4 yrs) and some up to or 14000 hrs with a good portion in a supervisory possition.
