I?m looking for clarification on Paragraph 210.50 (C) of the NEC.

Which states:

210.50 (C) Appliance Receptacle Outlets. Appliance receptacle outlets installed in a dwelling unit for specific appliances, such as laundry equipment, shall be installed within 1.8 m (6 ft) of the intended location of the appliance.

Is there anyway that this can be interpreted to limit an appliance cord to a maximum of 6? feet?

I?m interpreting the ?intended location? as being a construction requirement and the actual location could be greater when move-in happens.

If my interpretation is correct, does the NEC limit an appliance cord to a maximum of 6 feet anywhere in the code?

I think not. The text is clearly addressing the building, not the appliance.

I agree.

I could not find any such requirement.

The only limitations of the length of appliance cords that I know of is in section 422.16(B)(1), (B)(2), and (B)(4). This section limits the length of appliance cords for kitchen waste disposers to not less than 18" and not greater than 36". (B)(2) limits the length of dishwasher and trash compactor cords to 3 to 4 feet measured from the rear of the appliance. And last (B)(4) limits the length of a range hood cord to not less than 18" and not more than 36".
