You keep saying you want to learn the NEC and go by it, yet you continue to work for someone who isn't going to follow it. Why do you bother to ask what the code says when you're boss isn't going to abide? I would think you would go somewhere to work where you can learn and also do it correctly and to code.

I cannot magically make an employer available to just hire me at any given time nor have any guarantee he’ll follow the rules for safe installation.

I can only advise my boss on what is safe and document such encounters if he refuses. NEC makes the rules for safe installation but doesn’t protect any employee terminated wrongfully for following their code
