MC Cable

Can anyone give me a correct answer on this. Can MC cable be used to penetrate a non fire rated interior cinder wall? I understand that MC cannot be used through concrete unless it is direct burial rated but, is cinder considered concrete? I'm not sure. As far as I know you are allowed to run MC through the cells in the cinder as long as they are not exposed to cinder fills but am I allowed to penetrate directly through the cinder wall on both sides. Like I said before, it is not exposed to cinder fills, it is an inside wall and it is a non fire rated wall, someone please help me... thanks...

I believe you can find a UL penetration listing for just about any combination of cabling and wall material. It's been too long since I looked one up, but I'm sure others here are more familiar with it all.

My bad. I misunderstood that the penetration was non-fire rated.

Don, yes, you may penetrate the block wall with no special methods.

Is this an existing wall or a new one? Just wondering because I don't recall seeing an actual new "cinder block" wall for decades.

Yeah, don't be 'that guy'. I think there's little doubt what he's talking about.
