MCA > MOP - How can this be?

I just looked at a 480V chiller nameplate and the Minimum Circuit Ampacity is 41.2A. The Max Circuit Breaker rating is 40A. Does that make any sense? Why demand a circuit ampacity larger than the overcurrent protection?

I would agree that the unit is not marked correctly. Contact the MFR. for clarification.

HVAC manufacturers don't make electrical mistakes. It just HAS to be correct!!
