MCC Identification

Is there a standard for identifying MCC buckets? I was told generally starting at the far left, top that would be column 1 and then 1A being the top bucket or if it’s a 2 space factor then it’s 1A and 1B. Each 6” space factor is a letter designation. And that you skip I when counting down the column. So we could have A - M if we skip I. Is this the industry standard? Why do we skip I? Thanks

generally how it is done. I looks like 1 so people don't use it just like many places don't use "O", "J", or "Q" becasue they can be mistaken for other letters or numerals.

I’ve seen Consulting Engineers who use an opposite section numbering scheme based on the location of the main being on the far right, but when you go to order it from the mfr, it will have the left to right numbering, then the CE gets annoyed. But the mfrs all use software to lay out the MCCs now and unless you specifically override the numbering when it is worked up, it defaults as l-r. Most mfr MCC specialists don’t bother overriding that if you don’t tell them to.
