You are misunderstanding what using current adopted code means.Nope I been thru many projects you go by version they the AHJ adopted not what you think is the updated version or version you like.
Like I said if it was that essential AHJ would amend the local code immediately. Thats the way it is around here or else wait till code you like version adopted

The code would have to SPECIFICALLY disallow something for an AHJ to fail it. You are either misunderstanding or the AHJ is off their rockers! I choose to think the former!
