The specification of the MV alternator is 2500 kW,4 pole, rated speed = 1800 rpm, over speed limit=2100 rpm.

IMO, The condition of slower speed will be momentary not persistent and it will not effect two much the KVA rating.

My contention is, if there is less costlier LV alternator of 2500kw, 2 pole, rated speed=3600 rpm, it may be able to accept emergency loads of 2500kw within 10 seconds while more costlier MV alternator of 2500kw, 4 pole, rated speed = 1800 rpm may not.

Yes, For us 7 Nos MV generators are already delivered on site. Now no choice to choose between LV & MV. Our design is such that we need MV generators (7 Nos) for our project i.e the loads are approx. 300 Meters far from the generators. In case of LV generators there require a lot of cabling works and we don't have too much space to carry the huge amount of cables.
