Yes it works. Fluke used to sell an external resistor that you plugged in that was a 10k resistor. If the triac "off" state is say 100k and you apply 110 V and the meter resistance is 10k, the voltage that you read will be 110 x 10 / 110 or 10 V. If it is a 5k it will be 110 x 5 / 105 or very close to 5 V. Typical triac off resistance though is usually much higher. Either way if you are seeing 5 or 10 V you will still correctly conclude that the triac is in the off state (No voltage on the gate) where if it reads close to 100 V it is in the "on" state. In the same scenario with a 1 megaohm "HiZ" input in the metsr which is close to a typical FEF inout circuit you would see 110 x 1000 / 1100 or pretty close to 100 V and incorrectly assume the triac is "on" if there is no load on the triac when it's just the output voltage when the meter itself completes the circuit.

Thanks & Fluke still make them. Between $65 $90 depending on supplier.
That's the one. If the Megger terminals have the same spacing and many meters do, you could plug it in the Megger.
