Meter/disconnect

I put a 200 amp meter/disconnect on my daughters house in Colorado and inspector said very look good on the rough inspections. But the power company says they want an external shut off. Isn't the breaker in the meter/disconnect an external shut off ?

Perhaps they didn't realize there is a breaker in there... Yes that breaker is the main disconnect and should suffice

I agree with Dennis, IMO it would be dumb to have another separate disconnect right next to the service disconnect.

Only other things I can think of (and kind of a stretch) is they want a visible load break such as a safety switch or they want the meter cold sequenced......

Many POCOs are very picky about which meter sockets they allow. You said this is Colorado-is this Xcel? As I recall, in most areas, they are OK with meter/main combos but it must be a lever bypass.
