Hey guys, I don't do much meter reading so I'm looking for some confirmation here. I'm thinking that the poco is either reading my meter wrong or is assuming my kWh consumption because the meter is not visible from the street. Here is a picture of my meter today when i received my bill and it looks like it reads approximately 6288 kWh. On the bill my read from 2 days ago was 6799 kWh. Just looking for some input on if I'm reading my meter correctly. Thanks in advance for the help.

Many podco do an estimate of the meter based on previous months or years. We have one that will set up a monthly schedule for your bill that was based on the previous years use. At the end of certain periods they read the meters and work out the difference.

some pocos estimate every other bill (or whatever their schedule says) - call them and ask the question.

Sometimes if you have a dog in the yard, or are running a lawn sprinkler when they come to read, they'll just estimate it too.

I'm on budget billing. Mine only gets physically eyeballed by the meter reader once every 6 months.

My meter, along with all the other meters in town where changed a few years ago to remote read type.

We're scheduled to have that happen sometime in the next two months. I suspect someday I'll come home and have to reset all my clocks.

That will generate some business for you. It sure did me. They identified a heck of a lot of meter cans with internal corrosion, damage, and burns. They gave the customer a "red tag", with 30 days to get the can and any associated wiring fixed or they'd cut the drop.

Wow...nice for you. Around here they'll plug a meter into just about anything..the only time I've ever heard of them cutting a drop is when the meter jaws are so loose that they are causing arcing.

Not me. Nor any other EC. The POCO does it themselves.
