Can an electric meter be installed above a gas meter? If not what is the requirement/

Typically a POCO requirement. Around here they usually want 3' of separation.

Here in CA, PG&E is the same... but will bend if you got no other options.

I had to do it once, with the AHJ's approval. It was in my foot room.:grin:

Yes and no. The meter is not required by the NEC, I would judge it (gas meter under an electric meter) a working space violation, but its really a POCO call.

True the meter is not required but if you have one then it is electrical equipment and requires the work space

Here SCE (Southern California Edison) wants the meter 24" to the edge from the inlet side of the gas meter and 18" to the edge from the outlet side of the gas meter.
