the city i work in is wanting to install a eight gang meter mod center inside of a large cabinet to try to improve the asthetics of the meter center. Are there any code violations here? just think about acess.
 
hmm. i would think being that you or i could not access the meter anyway (for service purposes), it would be up to the utility. as long as its accessible by authorized personnel, such as the meter maid, i couldn't see a problem. but i haven't looked up a code either.
 
What about access to the breakers? Most meter mods I've done have the tenant breaker right next to the meter. So enclosing the whole shebang in a big Hoffman box may violate access to the breakers.
 
i don't think the tenant has to be allowed access if there is someone authorized to access them on duty 24hr a day.
