Have a question about the equipment ground wire size for a 200 AMP service.

Details of current environment;

30x50 all steel building

Merter on Pole with 200 AMP disconnect directly below meter socket.

From Disconnect to Sub panel I am planning on running 4/O,4/O,2/O aluminum wire through 3" PVC pipe. I have been told I need to run an equipment ground wire from the disconnect to the subpanel but I can not figure out what size to run.

My thoughts are that I should run an 4-6 awg wire. I would also presume you could use an THHN wire and not a bare wire.

Questions I have

Equipment Ground Wire size?
Can the wire be insulated stranded or does it have to be bare?

Any advice or input would be greatly appreciated.
