You have to pay extra attention to de-burring and chamfering the outside of the EMT cut end. If you do that it will slide right on.

Well it takes more then the typical screwdriver type reaming tool if that is the answer. Field cut end or factory end of tubing doesn't seem to matter either.

Occasionally a piece will slip in without disassembling the fitting, but I would say I have had to disassemble about 75% of the fittings to be able to insert the tubing properly. I will also admit to occasionally losing the nylon ferrule, sometimes it wasn't dropped straight below but rather as far away as I could throw it while cussing at it.

I'm sure what they are calling raintight probably is indeed more raintight then the standard compression fitting we had used for years is, but is still a joke when you consider that there will be more water inside because of condensation then the standard compression fitting will ever leak. I would even come close to saying that many set screw fittings will leak less water (outside of high pressure spray) then what gets inside because of condensation, based on what I have seen from improper installs and how long some of them have lasted
