MG Inspector really shines yesterday

Ill bet the next time I will design it myself or not do the job. Its really a problem for me when I see a really bad set of plans that some out of discipline PE signed and charged $1000 or more per sheet.
I end up redesigning it and spoon feeding it back to them.
As far as inspecting a house. I agree that the inspector should be looking for minimum code compliance and for any special outlets or wiring.
The guy really had no reasonable grounds to make me take out 200amp wire and install 150amp wire. Then telling me he could loose his license if he didn't call it that way. Ive been doing this way to long to even have to listen to that kind of bull.

I'd prefer you don't identify inspectors, plans examiners, and building officials by where they work or by their name. It's unprofessional and disrespectful. Address these issues directly with the jurisdiction, and if you feel the need to post the topic and subject matter here, make it generic and don't identify the job by place or by name.

I am certain you would find it inappropriate if I or other inspectors were to post complaints or issues we see with contractors and identified those persons and companies by name.

I agree Bryan,
I have met hundreds of inspectors over the years, 99.9% are very good at what they do. Many are friends of mine that came up in the trade with.
When I get one of these "exceptions", which is extremely rare, I guess I am more disappointed in their actions than anything else.
If they are professional, they will earn my respect.
This is a job that needs to get done so that someone can get out of a shelter and back into their house.
I don't want to see his boss or file a complaint, I just wanted to vent.
The next inspection as far as I am concerned, is a clean slate and will be, for me, without resentment or judgment.

You must follow the stamped plans. While what you offered is fine you are asking him to do reengineering. Now very few inspectors would fail this because they been electricians at one time. What you likely had was a non electrician inspector and they are clueless to do anything but follow the print. Not much you can do with his type. Remind him on rest of job that is wrong but approved on the prints. Wish you luck with him,you need it. And remember killing is illegal but not a violation of nec.

Words of wisdom!
