Mike Holt, Please no ads!!!!!

OK, who else is annoyed by the advertisement at the top of the page. Now every time I click back to the main electrical calculations/engineering page I have to look at the ad.

This forum has always been ad free, I hope this is not a trend.

Are you sure it is the forum and not your browser? I do not have any ads showing on mine.:eek:
 
I wonder if it is a one time ad. Once you view it it goes or perhaps they are changing the size since it was too big and sized on one side of the page.
 
I have never seen an add on this site.

I just tried that, Dennis, and I did not get an ad. I don't know if there is something in my setup that prevents the ads from appearing. But I have never seen ads.

Yeah, it's gone now so I don't know what to say. I thought maybe everyone got to see it once but who knows. The ad was pushed to the left and very long- you needed to scroll down to read the forum threads.
 
I didn?t see an ad either. But I also don?t see Mike Holt?s site asking for donations. So, if they did post an ad, who am I to object!
 
All is good, I had a message from the site administrator, that said it shouldn't have been there in the first place, and they fixed it as soon as they realized it, so that's why only some people saw it.

I agree. If there are ads, I would not object. This site has a lot of good info on it for free.

This site is not free, "someone" is paying for the domain name, server space, etc.
 
Well it is Mike Holts site and if he wants to advertise his products then I say go for it. We have been fortunate to not have ads for a long time. Many forums exist by selling ads.
 
Agree 100 percent. There is wealth of knowledge here available for free to the electrical

professional. MH Fourm does not have all of the bickering and name calling that other forum

has.
 
AdBlock Plus and NoScript in Firefox keeps most ads, spyware, and click-jackings away from my computer. Unfortunately Firefox has gone way downhill lately. Hopefully they recover or I'll have to switch browsers.

That being said, I don't think an advertisement for Mike Holt's products would really count as an advertisement on this site. Now if we start seeing ads for tools, testers, or even worse movie trailers, then we might have a problem.

But what do I know?
