I was wondering what people's opinions are regarding the difficulty of Mike's simulated exams is versus the real exam. I just took his simulated exam and scored a combined score of 83%. I'm still a little nervous about going to sit for my journeyman exam, and how I'll fare. Thanks

If you set everything up as if you were actually taking the test, it is a tremendous help. What I mean by this is setting some type of alarm, ie: alarm clock, cell phone, etc. and removing all distractions. Try to answer as many as you can without looking it up. Of course, you have to look up certain questions, but if you have to look up everything you will cut yourself short on time. As far as the actual questions, they were pretty much spot on, maybe a little tougher than the test I took. This will depend on your state and the testing agency.

I found the time to be a little generous and the material to be a bit harder, IIRC. It's a good step towards the exam, IMO.

Same here, I had time left and found the material a little harder than the actual test. It does give you a good sense of testing situations if you follow the instructions.

That makes me feel a little bit better. I followed the directions to the "T". To pass the Va. Journeyman Exam, I need a minimum of 70%. Thanks for your help!

Be careful with that score of 70. If you ever decide to move, most ive seen require a 75% or better. so if moving is a possibility, better shoot for a passing score of 75%:)

When I took the VA Master's exam, I found the test easier than WV's test and easier than I expected. But that was back in '02 and they have probably toughened it up some. Apparently, a lot of test takers back then thought it was easier than it should have been. That is what I got from the moderator. For one thing thing, there were no complicated math problems. I think that was because they were just starting the electronic format of test taking and everything had to be multiple choice. When I took the Master's test in DC several years later, it was a lot harder.

Anyway, good luck on your test.
