Does anyone know the minimum distance between the water pipe and main incoming service in an excavation job?
Current situation: Excavation one hole, how far does the main water pipe and main incoming service have to be?
thank you

I don't think the NEC says anything about this, but I would say check any local codes. IMO you would be ok with 12" separation.

Did a mobile home service a few years ago and the AHJ called me and wanted 12 in of seperation between the service entrance conductors and well water line.I didn`t want to lose the rapor we had knowing that if i bucked i would win that one .So I complied and passed that one and many more after when some of the work was still in progress :D Getting more bees with honey lol ;)

The opposite would be a much better installation. (having a grounding electrode close to the service) As lighting does not like very loge runs. The impedance of the GEC on a long run can be very high for the high frequency of a lightning strike. Remember lightning is a high frequency event.
