Unlike class 3 circuits, I cannot find a minimum wire size for class 2 circuits in the NEC. I assume that since PLTC cable can be used and it is available down to 22 gauge, that I can use 22 gauge wire. However, I cannot find an ampacity rating for 22 gauge wire in the NEC. Should I use the manufacturer's ampacity rating? The application is building automation where sensors and actuators will be wired to an input/output device powered by a class 2 listed transformer.

727.8 Allowable Ampacity.
The allowable ampacity of the conductors shall be 5 amperes, except for 22 AWG conductors, which shall have an allowable ampacity of 3 amperes.
