Sure, as long as they are rated for the ampacity.

However, you cannot mix conductor types with parallel conductors of the same set. But you can mix conductors types with different sets, and again they must be rated for the ampacity.
 
Pete, wouldn't it be more accurate to say you cannot mix parallel conductors on the same phase, but you can on different phases in each set?

In other words, all A-phase conductors of different sets must match, but A-phase's and B-phase's conductors need not match in each set.

(To me, 'set' means a group of one conductor of each phase and a neutral.)

Right...that's what I mean....phase not set. :)
