Wondering how many other states are doing this. According to MDLI, if the apprentice is not registered by 08, there time served there after does not count towards the jman required time.

MA, CT and RI all do.

MA only requires an apprentice to be registered if working on a State Prevailing Wage or Davis Bacon project.

CT and RI apprentices need to be registered just to work.
I believe NH also has this requirement.

I still like to know where it was heard or said about the registering of MN apprentices in the field.

In order to take the test for Journeyman or Master, you write down your employer and they have to verify it with the state.

I also checked the website www.electricity.state.mn.us and there is nothing anywhere in the news about MN going to have all apprentices required to be registered.

Can you name your source??

{Edit: added about checking the website}

I received a Government Action Alert Memo from the MEA. The bulliten has not yet been posted on the DOLI site yet.

I went to the government website and yes indeed we are required to be registered.

however - can anyone tell me howe we are to register when they don't give out that information?

Colorado requires registration. They also require a seperate registration to be completed each time the said apprentice changes employers. So, they must be registered AND must be registered to their current employer. Time not registered will not count toward your hours required for testing.

CA does as well

Is anyone enforcing this that you know of. We still have several guys not licenced or in school. I was told it was in a lot of job specs and almost all PW jobs, but I know of guys working PW with out a licence. It makes me feel like my licence is really doing a lot of good since no one is enforcing it.

Years ago when our state first required licensing, enforcement was little or none, the way they improved enforcement was the area ECs and Contractor Associations Joined forces to Lobby for enforcement, if the contractors in your state do not get together and lobby the lawmakers, DON't expect anything to happen. Everyone has to take an intrest in the effort.

The way it sounds to me is, the EC's from your state have to get together.
