Mobile Home Feeder - Conduit Pull

Looking for opinions. Have an existing 120' conduit run consisting of 2" Sch 40 PVC underground with 3 standard 90° elbows. I need to pull a 4/0-4/0-2/0-4 Mobile Home Feeder (Compact Aluminum) Cable assembly into this conduit run. I know it meets code, but is this going to be possible? We plan to pre-lube the pipe and then lube the dickens out of the cable as it goes in. Thoughts?

Sure, why not?

Lubrication is important but there are other mistakes that people make on wire pulls.
One such mistake is the rope that is used. If you use a small nylon rope it can cut into those 90s.

Another common mistake is how the head is made up. Make sure there are no sharp edges to catch on the couplings. Once the wire goes around a 90 it may pull a little harder but it will always move if pressure is applied to the rope and the wire is being fed. If it hangs up then it's not going to move no matter how much pressure is applied. Normally have to pull it back out and remake the head.

The idea is to not get into to much of a hurry. Take time to set the pull up properly and then a slow and steady speed. Even doing it this way it probably won't take over and hour to set up and pull with 3-4 guys.

I’d say it should be no issue, like already said no edges in the head to catch anything, lube it up and pull it steady without stopping.

Double the warning on rope. Even larger ropes can eat out a 90. You will only do it once before getting the right equipment.

I never liked 4/0 in 2" conduit. It always goes harder than I like.

I really shoot for 2.5" if I have a choice. We have a puller and high strength low friction rope that could probably drag a stalled locomotive, but I'd prefer to just have the wire go in easily without a lot of grunt from the tugger....

Thanks for all the replies! I'll be sure to have a good low friction pulling rope on hand and plenty of manpower to keep the cable moving smooth and steady as it goes in! Just hope there are no snag points in the run. Guess we'll find out eventually. Wish I had spec'd rigid steel 90's...just didn't think about it for the rough-in. My bad!
