We can officially add the "number of receptacles" thread to the Notorious Three mentioned at the bottom of the table of contents page. I don't know if I'd personally say it goes there, but I could understand others feeling that way.

Hey, I can only do so much. :D

310.4(M). Read closely and summarize. :D

Zog, I'd support a 25 ohm FAQ, for sure, and I think I might have addressed it in there somewhere, but I don't remember. (Edit: yeah, here.)

I don't see how the others would work in there for various reasons. "What meter" would look kinda like a big solicitation, I think. The "70E/PPE" one would be hard to summarize, I would think.

If you got something, feel free to start a thread on it and I may include it in the FAQ, just put "FAQ" in the title so I see it.

OK, I will put a few in Safety

I think electricmanscott raises a valid point. Although I am sure there are many subjects that you guys with thousands of post are tired of seeing, I don't see much harm in other folks discussing it ad nauseum. I don't know the code as well as some of you, and I doubt I'm alone. If you don't want to participate, don't.

I, for one, have very little experience in residential, and I'm sure much of what interests me in this forum bores others to death. I'm not very interested in what is near and dear to many of you... how much you charge. I work for an hourly wage.

I would think it odd that subjects that nobody wants to discuss would end up with many pages ... kinda like Yogi Berra said," Nobody goes there any more... it's too crowded."

If we're only gonna discuss what the seasoned vets are interested in, or what hasn't been discussed before.... I think he put it something like...... maybe it is time to nuke the whole forum.

I think for the most part FAQs aren't too good... sure don't make for much of a forum.

I for one have noticed in my many years of doing this that Hospitals and health care facilities spec Grounds up now I dont particularly care or need to know why it is just an observation I am not an engineer.

A lot of specs used to have such a requirement. I think the idea was that if something dropped on the plug and partially dislodged it from the receptacle, that the part most exposed would be the ground pin rather than the hot.

I make a motion we cut all the moderator's pay in half. :)

Any seconds?

I can live with that. :D

I don't see any problem with re-hashing things again on any subject. If everyone searched and found a answer these forums might be really boring. I enjoy the long re-hashed discusions on things as long as they stay on topic. There is a reason the answer isn't clear cut and I look at it as a way to see if I can learn something. If you don't like seeing re-hashed threads no one forces you to read them or participate.

Also, keep in mind many newbies here probably won't even know how to search for a given subject. The purpose of the forum is to disseminate information, not be entertaining to the regulars.

None of us were born with all this knowledge. We had to acquire it. And just because some of us already know the 'Three Taboo' questions will be shut down, there's no harm in a cubbie asking. We simply give them a straight answer and refer them to the FAQs.

We may tire of the questions, but I'll bet we all have asked them at one point.

We do rehash many subjects, many subjects are complicated and need to be worked through.

Ground up or down will not be one of them as it is a question without a real answer.

To Pre-twist or not to pre-twist is another with no real answer.

To twist, or not to twist; that is the question.
Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer
The shorts and opens with outrageous callbacks,
Or to take Kleins against a sea of troubleshooting,
And by twisting end them?

Now do it in an Adam Sandler voice...

... while holding a megger in palm outstretched
