Modifying the length of an RMC nipple

I looked through our local Platt's website. It seems the Appleton brand are concrete tight, and the Made in USA American Fittings Corp are both rain and concrete tight for just a little more money.

What you said about American Fittings Corp compression fittings, is only true for sizes 1/2" to 2". It doesn't make any sense at all why they would limit the raintight rating to only half of the sizes. Maybe the larger sizes somehow failed the testing, despite being built to the same product concept.

From my point of view, most applications where I'd expect to use RMC or IMC would be wet locations, so it is very unexpected that it is so difficult to find such fittings with a proper wet location rating.
