I was called to do a modular home set up when doing the walk through i noticed on the indoor load center panel cover a sticker that read this panel shall not be served with over current protection of more than 100 amps. The panel has a 200 amp main in it I am going to set a 200amp meter combo on the outside and treat the indoor as a sub. whats the deal with the 100amp sticker?

Re: modular home

I would say that the manufacter most likely put the wrong sticker on the panel. I would suggest that you contact the manufacter & ask them if they would draft a letter stating that it would be OK to supply the home with a 200amp service.

Re: modular home

Is a chance the panel is only rated at 100 amps and the main breaker is only being used as the disconnect required.Perhaps they had a lot of them on hand and wanted to use up old stock.Check to see what breakers it permits.

Re: modular home

I agree with Jim and Bob. (At the risk of displaying my poverty) my panel has the same sticker. The panel is rated (per the manu. sticker on the inside of the cover door) at 100 amps.

Why on earth would a mobile require more than 100 amps?

I am out in the sticks, with a 30 amp 240V well circuit, a 20 amp 240 feeder to a horse barn, and a 15 amp MWBC powering a pole light and GFCI for stock tank. These are all powered by the 200 amp disco outside. There is a 100 amp feeder from outside piped into my house panel.

If there are accessories such as well, etc, I'd power them from a disco outside. My house panel is completely filled with piggybacks and quads, from the factory. I'd expect the same for your situation.

Re: modular home

In classes for code prep and inspectors I open article 550 with this question;
A single wide mobile home has a 200 amp panel on the inside but the connected load as calculated by 550.18 is 23000va. What size main breaker will be required for this home?

Over three years now and the answer I get over 90% of the time is 200 amp. Go figure.

Re: modular home

Try and get it passed with that sticker affixed :eek: No inspector would ever pass it with that in place and without a manufacturers letter.Speaking of stickers has anyone noticed the red stickers on Progress recessed cans?
