More toys for the gullible public

I was walking through an appliance store recently and saw that Monster Cable is now producing dryer and range power cords. http://www.monstercable.com/power/appliance.asp

"Built differently from other electric range cords, PowerRange 300 and 400 features include the exclusive PowerFlow? indicator light for continuous line status monitoring, large gauge high-purity copper conductors, heavy duty Duraflex? jacket, high strength metal strain relief, and 24k gold connections."

And... they're only $40 each!!! I don't know how I've gotten along without them.

They even have a surge suppressor for your air conditioner...

Funny. They're 3-wire, not 4-wire.

I can't wait until they come out with MonsterCable telephone cords. I can't stand my non-gold-plated ones I have now.

It kills me to think that there is a range cable with an indicating light on it to tell you if there is power there or not at any moment.
WHO LOOKS UNDER THEIR RANGE FOR FUN!!!?!
In the present age of energy conservation the last thing we need is a light on our range or dryer cord to tell us that there is power there.

As far as high def goes- What I have been led to believe is that high def - because it is a digital signal - can actually run through some pretty bad components and wires because it's not warped because of interference like regular broadcast signals are. you can't warp 1's and 0's.

well, everyone *knows* that if the dryer power does not come thru
cryogenically frozen copper wire, the third harmonic dysfunction will
cause static cling and pilling of your angora work clothes.

what gives, are you *NEW* or something? don't you know anything?

happy new year..... you'll have to wait till tomorrow to run down to
the store and buy these......:D

I think EVERYTHING monster cable sells is a high priced scam.

I agree completely. It's just a great marketing scam where everyone from the manufacturer down to the seller makes large profits. The real loser is the end user who gets suckered into buying expensive stuff that they don't need.

That's not to bad, but if you want to be a champion sucker you have to go with these

Be sure to buy at least four to get the price break.:D

when 'pooters talk to each other, or even to themselves, at the machine
language level, there is a checksum, which is one piece of hardware saying
"can you hear me now", and another part of the system saying 'uh huh".
if it's a crummy connection, then it takes longer to communicate, same as
it would standing at an airport with a jet taking off. that's all CRC errors
are (cyclical redundancy check).

but there's a passel of money to be made in selling stuff lovingly crafted
from pure unobtainium. monster cable is just the beginning of a very slippery
hi definition slope.... i've seen speaker cables 12' long, that retail for $1,800
a pair...... and require a 100 mhz o-scope to properly tweak and balance
the capacitive reactance... blah, blah, blah.....

and during the second world war, the british did some groundbreaking
research on human perception of sound, in conjunction with sonar and
submarine warfare, that is still valid today.

the ears of the average 20 year old sonarman, (the best of the best
in hearing acuity) cannot tell less than five percent total harmonic
distortion. five percent. not five hundreths of a percent. five percent.

it's all just snobbery, the audiophile thingie...... don't tell nobody, but i
had a friend who's a serious audiophile tweak my car stereo for me, to
get that last bit of perfection.... :D and after he was all done, and blessed
and annoited the system, after a few days, something didn't sound right.

turns out he had rotated the whole sound stage 90 degrees, (left front
became right front, right front became right rear, etc.) and he never even
noticed it. this man has over $50k invested in home stereo equipment.

i switched it back, and never said a word.... :D ... now, the lead guitar
is back in the correct corner of the van.... what a relief. whew. that
fuzzed out schreecherk is right where i expected it to be.....
