Motion sensor good for 50 feet?

Has anyone had success with a particular passive IR motion sensor for a residential outdoor floodlight application where the sensing range was out to around 50 feet? I tried two (a Heath/Zenith and a Brinks) which both claimed 70 feet of range but neither will pick up a person anywhere near 70 feet, not even 25 feet. Anybody use the RAB long range units?

Haven't had anybody want to spend the money on one lately, but the RAB Stealth ones we used to use in the rich neighborhoods were pretty good.

I've had several Heath/Zeniths pick up motion from more than 25' and probably close to 70'. It depends on the range settings and how high up they're mounted.
I know these are towards the bottom of the rung for motion lights but I haven't had any problems with the range providing there was a clear path and the settings were right.

I have used one of these units once and worked very well, one thing that was very important was the mounting height of the unit. I think max height was 8-9'. There tech help was very good .
