Are you legally allowed to lets say feed a 60A disconnect and on the load side come off with #6 and tap with #10 to feed (3) 7.5HP motor starters each fed with #10. There is no other OCP after the tap. I don't see this being allowed. There should be OCP after the tap. Each tap is less than 3ft. in length.

Under the right conditions, what you describe is compliant : 430.53(C) is one reference.

You have to do a lot of reading in 430 to get it right, and then you have to read it agian

to be sure. Or maybe 50% sure!
