Trying to determine if the branch-circuit OCPD can be used as the disconnecting means for two different motors. The OCPDs will be in a 480V/3ph panelboard and will be lockable. Both motors are within 50 feet and can be seen from the panelboard.

Motor 1: 1/3 HP, NEMA 1 FVNR starter
Motor 2: 20 HP, VFD

(VFD and starter are both right next to the panelboard in question)

I'm getting hung up on the 430.102(B) and 430.109, but it seems redundant to add a disconnect switch 20 feet away from the panelboard.

**2023 NEC**

Sounds like you meet the requirements of 430.102(A)M& (B) as far as location.
You will need to check the VFD specs concerning protection. Some require fuse protection.
