Good morning, we had a meeting last night with our NEC class. This is a group of men who will be taking the Masters exam in May, in the State of Delaware. One of the students came up with the question that we could not find in the NEC book.
The question is: "What duty is the motor, if it is not marked on the motor nameplate"?
My opinion is Continuous, but we could not find that in our NEC book.
One of the students commented, that he thought that this question had been asked on a Masters Exam.

Re: Motor, nameplate

I do not remember this specific question, but it was sometime ago.
The motor questions that I remember were more like , 'what size 208v 3ph feeder is required for the following group of motors', and the like.

The answer to your question is Continuous.

You need to read the Note under Table 430.22(E)

In my opinion, there should be alot more 'common knowledge questions on the test, not just 'where in the code' type questions.
