We have a 400 HP, ODP, 4160 volt, 3600 RPM, 3 phase motor built by the manufacture to run CCW.
We want to couple this motor to a pump that needs to be driven CW. Will the internal cooling fins/blades in this motor not function correctly running CW?
My main concern is if the motor will have close to the same torque output running clockwise as it does running counter clockwise??? Don't want to risk damaging this expensive motor. I am also trying to work with the manufacture on this. Any comments or previous threads would be appreciated. Thanks.

Interesting post. I in all my years around electric motors have never seen a large unit like this that is designed to run only one direction. It must have something to do with the fan construction, fan baffles or both. I think you are on the absolute right track by going to the manufacturer on this. Whose brand of motor is this?

We got it handled with the manufacture. All we need to to is flip the DE and NDE fans. Cooling is the only issue. Thanks.
