This office building floor has 2" concrete on top of 3/4" plywood which is on 2x4 wood trusses. How would you mount a floor duplex floor box ? We will be running MC cable to them. Thanks so much from one who mostly does residential work.

I would look for a poke through receptacle. I don't know if you can find a listed floor box that is going to fit in only 2" of concrete. If you do then just chop a hole, mount the box and run the cable through the ceiling below.

Is the floor part of a fire rated assembly?
wow, I have no idea. There is a two gang floor box I've been asked to tap out of after we check the load on that circuit. I have to estimate adding two more floor outlets. They asked me to asses the existing box too, the customer photoed it, a metal two gang. I've tried to post but not successful. He just lifted it right out of it's hole, so it must have a 'lip' that holds it from falling down. Thanks

How in the world are you going to estimate a project where you don't know what kind of box to get to go into the concrete, where you can get power from, routing and distance of wires, how long will it take to get it done, etc.?
If I even took such a project, it would be T&M or pass and let someone with experience on this have the job. Unless you estimate high, real high, you might lose your shirt on this.

Thanks. The existing floor box is within 25’ of the two new ones and he said I can assume that circuit will allow being tapped from for my estimate. If not, I can request for more money . My main problem is mounting. I guess I may need to estimate time for framing lumber under the boxes to support them.

I wasn't questioning your ability to do the job, I was just trying to point out how difficult an estimate would be without you knowing what all you would have to do to complete the project.

Thank you so much, I really appreciate your help. I just do very little commercial work. I will try and estimate it high. This forum has really helped me.
