I've got a 42 story highrise with transformers on every floor in a tiny electrical closet. A pallet jack is too big for the room. Does anyone know of any compact equipment that can lift and move 150KVA transformers in tight locations. Thank you for any help or ideas.:-?

Rigid is a good idea, however I need to move the transformer left to right and back to conect parllel one foot long 2.5" greenfields out of a concrete deck.

I have some rigger's "skates" that I use for stuff like that. I've moved some pretty weird stuff on skates. If you can lift it a bit with a pinch bar, you might be able to get a furniture dolly under it (the flat kind, with 4 wheels).

Skates and/or "Johnson bars" ...I've moved giant switchgear using nothing but these items..I also had the benefit of some swing room though.

It's also possible to SLIDE these heavy objects....a rail "system" of kindorf is really all that is needed...and a Johnson bar to get the rails out afterwards.

Another idea...look up!
Anyway to rig some ridgid overhead....use chainfalls and come-alongs to move the monster.

EDIT:
What are the dimensions on the xfmer?
Weight?

Been awhile since I got to play with the "real" stuff ....BX sux.

These don't need as much room as a pallet lift, but still might be too big for your application. I have also see engine lifts used.

Excellent suggestion. I know those as "Piano mover's dolly's". Most tool rental stores have them, and they are used in pairs.

I moved one today in both directions with use of 2 pallet jacks. One pallet jack had to move both x former and other pallet jack to get my 500 in it.Its not fast or easy but it can be done.Might add some pallet jacks are small
